Frequently asked questions - You ask, we answer

What do I need to provide to get a quote from you and do you require concept art?

We don't need all that much. The minimum we require are a few measurements of your body and a short description of your character. However, since a costume is a considerable investment, we recommend thorough planning. The more detailed your character description is, the closer the final result will be to what you have in mind.

While we don't require concept art to create a new costume, we strongly recommend that you provide drawings of your character. Even if your description is very detailed, it might be that your ideas of certain details differ from how we imagine them just reading the text. A drawing, on the other hand, doesn't leave much room for misinterpretation and ensures that your costume will look exactly as you have it in your mind.

How much does a costume cost and how can I pay?

There are many factors that influence the price of our costumes. Material costs, complexity and shipping costs all play a role in the final price as well as any import taxes you may need to pay. Why not ask us for a no obligation quote, then you will know for sure.

We accept payment via PayPal and via bank transfer. Please note that we require a deposit of 30% of the order value and that we usually only send the costume to you after any outstanding payments have been received in full. Under special circumstances we may accept payment in installments. Please don't hesitate to contact us should you require more information.

Which countries do you deliver to and will there be any additional fees?

Generally we deliver to all countries on all continents. Since our studio is located on the west coast of the United States, shipping to other regions of the world may take several days or even weeks. For example, normal shipment of a costume to Europe usually takes about two weeks, including the time taken by your local tax office.

Areas outside the United States usually require you to pay import tax and local VAT, depending on the value of the order. These will differ from country to country, so we are unfortunately unable to determine those ahead of time. Please inquire with your local import or tax authority to learn more about the fees and import laws for your country.

How long will I have to wait between ordering a costume and receiving it?

We work on a first come, first served basis according to the date of order acknowledgement. Please note that your order will only be set to acknowledged status after your initial deposit has reached our bank account. The average waiting time is between three and six months, depending on current work load and the complexity of your character. With a bit of luck, you may have your new costume in as little as four months.

What materials do you use and how durable will my costume be?

We use only the best materials from the United States to build our costumes. Please note that we do not use any real fur or leather. Our heads are built from industry-grade upholstery foam that ensures comfort due to its light weight. For details and special accents we use polymer clay, plastic or metal.

Due to the materials we use, our costumes are very durable. Given the proper care, your costume will see many years of use. We recommend machine-washing the costume body, hands and feet at a low temperature setting. You can clean the head with a wet cloth and washing powder.

Can I have a copy of another costume or can I order a character that isn't of my own creation?

Unless you have the written permission of the person or company that holds the rights to the other costume or character design, we cannot accept an order for a costume for which you don't have the full rights. Why not create your own character instead?

Can I have animatronics in my costume?

Unfortunately, due to the way our costumes are constructed we cannot offer animatronic enhancements. The mostly soft materials we use wouldn't provide enough support for mechanical installations.
